Please read the medial long i words with ending silent e that were copied from the board to an adult.  Save the paper at home to use for extra practice.  Please begin to memorize the Long Vowel Rules that were sent home.  There will be a Chapter 12 Math Test on Tues., May 22.  Please review numbers from 1-100, skip counting by twos, fives, and tens, identifying odd and even numbers, and place value in tens and ones.  Thank you.

Please review the papers that your child brings home each day.  Be sure to look for papers with “Homework” or “Please Sign and Return” stamped on them.  All of the children should be reviewing the High Frequency WordsConsonant-Vowel-Consonant Words, Consonant-Vowel-Consonant-Silent e Words, and Medial Long Vowel Words as they are introduced in class.  Cards have been sent home for this purpose.  Please be sure to practice each day.

The following High Frequency Words have been introduced: I, like, the, and, see, a, we, to, come, me, with, my, what, you, are, now, is, how, of, so, many, where, that, into, be, who, will, your, go, for, here, they, soon, up, make, play, them, give, new, say, said, was, good, then, ate, could, all, some, she, over, her, when, he, no, away, must, by, there, down, do, went, little, just, only, have, help, one, every, ask, walk, very, out, saw, put, look, their, off, take, our, day, too, show. Please practice reading and writing these words.

The following Consonant-Vowel-Consonant Words have been introduced: words containing medial short a (man, cat, sad, tap, etc.), words containing medial short i (hid, sit, rip, Tim, etc.), words containing medial short o (hot, pop, Tod, etc.), words containing medial short e (bed, get, hen, etc.) and words containing medial short u (tub, sun, pup, etc.).  Please practice blending and writing these words.

The following Long Vowel Words have been introduced:  words containing long a and silent e (take, safe, pale, game, etc.), words containing medial long a (rain, paid, sail, etc.), words containing long i and silent e (like, pipe, tire, etc.).  Please practice reading and writing these words.

Show and Tell will be held on full-session Fridays.  Please assist your child in selecting an item according to the assigned topic.  Please select only one item per topic.  Help your child to practice saying something about the item.  Do not send in sharp objects or violent toys for Show and Tell.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Oct. 13  – something that reminds you of the fall season

Oct. 20 – Halloween decoration

Nov. 10 – something that you are thankful for

Nov. 17 – something that you made with your own hands

Dec. 15 – Christmas decoration

Jan. 5 – something that makes a noise

Jan. 19 – something that you play with or use in the snow

Jan. 26 – favorite healthy snack

Feb. 9 – Valentine decoration

Feb. 16 – something that you keep/save money in

Feb. 23 – something that you can use for measuring

Mar. 9 – something that represents your favorite hobby

Mar. 16 – exotic fruit or vegetable

Mar. 23 - Easter decoration

Apr. 20 - something that can be used in the garden

Apr. 27 – something that can be used at the beach

May 18 – children's choice
