KA Classroom Procedures

"Today we are the shapers of the world of tomorrow"  - Walt Disney

Kindergarten students may enter the building between 7:40 AM and 7:55 AM.  They will then proceed to the Kindergarten classrooms.  Children arriving after the 8:00 AM bell will be marked tardy.  Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 2:40 PM from the triple doors at the rear of the building.

Backpacks/Pocket Folders

Your KA child should bring as backpack and a pocket folder to school each day.  The pocket folder will be supplied by the school.  Check the pocket folder every afternoon for important messages, completed work, and assignments.

There will be a $30 Supply Fee for each Kindergarten student.  The Kindergarten Supply Fee is due at Kindergarten Orientation. Only checks made payable to Corpus Christi School will be accepted.  Please place the fee in an envelope labeled with your child's name and the words "Kindergarten Supply Fee".  Please bring the envelope with you when you attend the Kindergarten Orientation.  The supply fee will cover the cost of primary pencils, crayons, paper, scissors, watercolor paints, and glue.  Please do not send in these items from home.  The following supplies will also be needed: copy paper, baby wipes, Lysol wipes, Ziploc bags (all sizes), tissues, and paper towels.  If you are able to send in these supplies, your generosity will be most appreciated.

The children are expected to wear school uniforms and follow the school dress code.  All sweaters and sweatshirts must be labeled with your child’s mane.  Please send a smock to school for messy projects.  Please label the smock with your child’s name.

Parents are responsible for providing snacks and lunches.  Lunches may be sent from home or purchased online. If sending lunch from home, please keep in mind the following: Napkins and drinks must accompany all snacks and lunches.  Please send a fork, spoon, and/or straw if needed.  Your child should bring a snack to school each day.  The snack will be eaten during morning recess.  It must be packed in a bag (paper, cloth, or insulated) that is labeled with your child’s name.  You may purchase lunch or send lunch each day.  If you are purchasing lunch, please follow the guidelines that were sent home by the catering service.  Please pack snack in a bag and lunch in a lunch box.  This will prevent your child from mixing up snack and lunch.  Your child will always know that snack is packed in a bag and lunch is packed in a lunch box.  Please do not send glass bottles, candy, or soda in your child’s snack or lunch.  Healthy foods such as fruit, vegetables, yogurt, or cheese are always a good idea.  Please keep in mind that Corpus Christi is a NUT FREE ZONE.

Please review the completed work that your child brings home each day.  Some children may need extra reinforcement.  All of the children should memorize their phone numbers, addresses, and birth dates.  Please check your child’s pocket folder each day for homework assignments. Completed homework assignments should be returned in your child’s folder on the next school day.

Show and Tell

A schedule of dates and topics for Show and Tell will be posted on the KA Webpage.  Click on Homework on the KA Webpage.  The schedule will be listed below the daily assignments.  Please assist your child in finding an item and reviewing what your child will tell the class about it.  Do not send sharp objects or violent toys for Show and Tell.

Each child will be celebrated on their birthday!  Birthday parties in school are not elaborate.  All food must be NUT FREE.  Please supply a juice box or mini water bottle and a brownie, cookie, ice cream cup, or doughnut (Dunkin’ Donuts are not nut free.) for each child in the class.  Ingredient lists must accompany all food.  Please also supply paper plates, napkins, and four plastic tablecloths.  Please do not send in any “extras” such as goody bags and/or party favors.  Goody bags and/or party favors will be returned to you.  Party supplies should be brought to school by 8:00 AM on the day of the celebration.  Parents are not permitted to attend classroom birthday parties.

If your child has a summer birthday, please select another time between September through May for your child to celebrate an “unbirthday”.

Holiday Celebrations

Holiday celebrations are an exciting part of Kindergarten!  There will be a $30 Celebration Fee for each Kindergarten child.  The Kindergarten Celebration Fee is due at Kindergarten Orientation.  Only checks made payable to Corpus Christi Home/School Association will be accepted.  Please place the fee in an envelope labeled with your child’s name and “Kindergarten Celebration Fee”.  Please bring the envelope with you when you attend the Kindergarten Orientation.  The celebration fee will cover the cost of paper goods, food, beverages, and/or other party supplies that will be needed throughout the year.  We will be having a Halloween Costume Party, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Party, Ice Cream Social, St. Patrick’s Day Party, Easter Brunch, and Farewell Luau this year.  On certain occasions party favors/presents that are provided and funded by the classroom teacher will be distributed.  Please do not send in your own party favors/presents to be passed out in class.  Any unauthorized party favors/presents will be returned to you.

Monthly Authors

Each month, KA will be exploring the works of different authors.  Information about the monthly authors will be posted on the KA Webpage.  Just click on Monthly Authors on the KA Homepage for all of the details.  Please look for books by the monthly authors when visiting your local library.  The children are encouraged to bring these books to school to share with the class.
